Flight tickets I need advice pleeeeeaase!!!?

All week I've been lookin up tickets and then, when I was ready to book it they go up 100 dollars!!!! I'm sooooooo BUMMED!

For all you frequest flyers, could this be because its friday now and I should wait until Monday to check again???

Please HELP me... I need some advice. FAST!!!!!!!

Go look at the available seats for the flights you're considering. If there's not a lot, you should buy it now. If more than half the seats are available, wait until midnight on Tuesday - many airlines change their rates then, and the rest catch up on Wednesdays. At midnight, any seats that were being held and not purchased are released again.

The other thing is - if you've been looking at the same airline several times, that could jack up the price too for the possibility for supply and demand. (That's happened to me.) So, if you're going to wait to buy, DO NOT go back to that website until AT LEAST Monday.

Don't wait! The closer you get to flight time the supply goes down and demand goes up. That is why the price went up here. Shop around as fast as you can and jump on the first good chance you have.
The ticket price most likely went up because there are fewer tickets to sell. Simple supply and demand, if you continue to wait the price will continue to climb.

As a rule of thumb, the best time to buy a plane ticket is right away. Waiting will often just cost you money. Even if an airline runs a discount special after you buy, you can call them and they will often credit you the difference.
Tickets are based on availability and advance purchase so the closer you get to your departure date it will go up in price as well as the more the plane fills up. You can certainly wait until Monday, but then you are chancing it going up more. I would say it is going to be a rare occurrence for it to go down, unless there is a "glitch" on the price increase, but I wouldn't count on that to be honest.

They used to be more apt to discount tickets last minute, but to many people waited and the airline was losing money let alone turning a profit. So the airlines are have cut the number of flights they are running to various destinations to try and ensure filling the flight as best as they can.

Good Luck to you!
Prices go up, because of higher demand and closer to travel time. Its called 'yield management'. The airlines have been practicing it for years. In laymen terms:

- book as far ahead as you comfortably can; should the price go down most airlines will refund you the difference from what they sold you before;

- sometimes it helps if you can add a Saturday night stay into your trip to keep prices low;

- compare websites like orbitz or hotwire

Don't wait till Monday - prices will likely go up, because more people are taking seats away over the weekend as they have time to book their leisure travel and you'll have less to choose from.
General rule is the longer you wait the more expensive they get, unless yo can be very flexible, try calling airlines in the morning and asking if they have any last minute availability for that day, you might get a real bargain!
Yes, you need to buy now, the longer you wait, usuallly the higher price...but, here's a great trick. Check out the airlines rules first, but most airlines guaranty the lowest price. Meaning, if you buy now and sometime before you leave the price goes down they'll give you the lower price. Now, the airlines dont do this automatically and most definately dont tell you if the prices are lowered. Check the website prices every few days and call them if they're lowered. It worked for me with US Airways (got $$ back) %26amp; for a coworker with SW (he got vouchers for future use)....but check the ailrline's website to see their rules. Good Luck!
