You can always change a booking although at a cost unless the ticket was issued as recently as today. If you already payed for the ticket and more then a day has passed then there is a cancellation fee of 250 to 300 dollars.

It depends on which airline you are traveling with. Southwest, for example, does not charge a fee to change your flight but you do need to pay a difference in fare. All fares are refundable with Southwest, just some fares will give you your money back and other fares give you a credit towards other travel. US Airways charges a $100 fee plus any change in fare price.

I hope this helps!
Generally speaking: NO

You must cancel first and buy them again, pay the fare difference, if any, as well as some penalties (from $50 up to $200). Just it depends on the airlines and where you are traveling.

This assuming you bought on line, restricted, non-refundable tickets. (must read the fine prints on the website)

But, if you bought the fully refundable one, you can do anything you want.
First it depends on where you bought your ticket from. If you didn't buy them directly from the Airline or its site and you pruchased them via travel agency or discount website (Travolcity example) all changes must be made through the travel agency.

Most airlines are going to charge you a flat rate fee to change flights plus you have to pay the difference in fare which can be a killer. You can call the airlines reservationist hotline or travel agency to make changes. The sooner you do it the better.
